Women of NASA is Your Next LEGO Ideas Set

Early this morning the results of the second 2016 LEGO Ideas review was announced and Maia Weinstock's Women of NASA has been selected as the next LEGO Ideas set to reach the market!

Maia is an accomplished science writer, deputy editor of MIT News and now, with today's news, she is in the exclusive club of people that turned an idea into a real LEGO set.

I'd love to ask her what her greatest achievement is in her career! You can read Maia's 10k Club Interview on the LEGO Ideas blog to find out more about her.

Women of NASA celebrates five notable NASA pioneers - Mae Jemison, Margaret hamilton, Sally Ride, Nancy Grace Roman and Katherine Johnson, all of whom have given a massive contribution to space exploration and astronomy.

The concept for the Women of NASA LEGO set

The set aimed to provide an educational building experience to help children and adults learn and develop an appreciation about the mammoth contributions of these women to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), which has historically struggled to accept women in such male dominated industries.

The final design has not been released but it looks like it will be available late 2017/early 2018. Watch this space!
